Spoken Word Poetry: Cherokee Whispers by Lori Davis

Our ranch sits on sacred ground to the Cherokee Nation.  I often feel them walking here.  Many interesting things happen on our land that are, let’s say, supernatural.  We see interesting things.  We’ve captured extremely interesting phenomena on our cameras.  This ground is very powerful.  Here is a poem I wrote about what I was feeling…trying to capture it in free verse.  This video is our ranch and the valley below is where it is said that the Cherokee warrior died but died free.  He is revered, it is said, in the Cherokee spirit world  because he died free after escaping from the Trail of Tears caravan.
